Congratulations to Linda Anderson (AKA Momma bear) on receiving December Athlete Of The Month! We are so proud of you and all the hard work you put in every day at the gym! Linda has been CrossFitting for 2 1/2 years. She first saw the results of CrossFit and the love for the COI Community in her daughter, Amanda. Linda has been active over the years but was looking for a new challenge and wanted to try something different. Her first day at CrossFit, she thought she must be out of her mind to think that a 60-something year-old woman could do CrossFit! Congratulations to Garrett Davis for being selected for COI’s September Athlete of the Month! Garrett stumbled across the parking lot of a CrossFit gym 10 years ago, decided to try it out, and has been sticking with it ever since! Garrett’s overall fitness goals are to continue to stay healthy and be able to do CrossFit long term. His favorite part about CrossFit OwnIt is the fact that he gets to see all of his friends, spend time with them, and continue to get in better shape each day. He loves a good cheat meal that consists of wings and beer, and a fun fact about Garrett that not many know is that he can wiggle his ears. His best advice to someone trying CrossFit for the first time would be to make sure you build a solid foundation before you start going up in weight and to always be...

Congrats Larissa Kiyoku for being selected for COI’s August Athlete of the Month. She has been doing CrossFit at OwnIt for about a year. Larissa’s favorite movement is snatching. She does not like burpees and thinks anyone who likes burpees should not be trusted. Larissa likes how CrossFit allows her to push through any mental limitations in order to improve. She works hard and uses it as a good stress reliever so you can forget about everything and just focus on finishing the WOD. Larissa loves how everyone at COI is really welcoming and supportive. She likes that the community is able to have a friendly competition but at the same time encourage everyone to be better and stronger. Larissa’s goals for this year are to keep challenging herself to work harder, be able to do pull ups and toes to bar! Congrats again Larissa! We are so proud of you!

Greg’s favorite movement is any sort of squat, while he dislikes handstand push-ups. CrossFit provides Greg with lots of variety and keeps the muscles confused.
